At the May 3, 2023, meeting of Executive Committee, the Committee considered the attached EX23-37 report from the City Planning & Community Development Division

 

The Administration made a PowerPoint presentation, a copy of which is on file with the Office of the City Clerk.

 

The following addressed the Committee:

 

·         Jim Elliott, Regina, SK

·         Ingrid Thiessen, Regina, SK

 

The Committee adopted a resolution to table the report to the May 31, 2023 meeting and directed Administration to prepare a supplementary report that outlines similar to that of the City of Kelowna:

 

1.              How the City could develop a pesticide registry along with the staffing and cost involved; and
 

2.              In the absence of a full pesticide ban, include recommended regulations on weed control companies to post warning signage before and after they apply yard pesticides for individuals, especially children and pets to avoid walking on the affected area for a set amount of time.

 

At the May 31, 2023 meeting of Executive Committee, the following addressed the Committee with respect to the attached supplemental report EX23-47 report from the City Planning & Community Development Division:

 

·         Aura Lee MacPherson, representing Calling Lakes Ecomuseum, Regina, SK

·         Paule Hjertaas, representing Saskatchewan Network for Alternatives to Pesticides (SNAP Inc.), Regina, SK

·         Dr. Tanya Dahms, representing University of Regina, Regina, SK

·         Joel Beatson, representing Landscape Saskatchewan, Edmonton, AB
 

The attached EX23-54 communication from Jim Elliott, Regina, SK was received and filed.

 

The meeting adjourned prior to the consideration of items EX23-37 and EX23-47, deeming the reports tabled for consideration at the June 14, 2023 Executive Committee meeting.

 

At the June 14, 2023, meeting of Executive Committee, the Committee considered reports EX23-37 and EX23-47 from the City Planning & Community Development Division.

 

The Committee adopted a resolution to receive and file the supplemental report (EX23-47), and during the consideration of item EX23-37 the Committee adopted a resolution to deny the recommendations contained within the report. 

 

Recommendation #4 in the attached EX23-37 report does not require City Council approval.
